Experiment Name: Modal Analysis of a Cantilever Beam
1.1 Introduction
The purpose of this experiment is to find the mode
frequencies of the cantilever beam shown below.
1.2 Preprocessing:
Defining the Problem
The simple
cantilever beam is used in all of the Dynamic
Analysis Tutorials. First
geometry will create by using Beam Element and with the specified material
properties. Then following step to be
followed for applying Boundary Condition.
a.
Solution: Assigning Loads and Solving
1. Define
Analysis Type
Solution > Analysis
Type > New Analysis > Modal Analysis
2. Set
options for analysis type:
Mode Extraction Method > Subspace
No. of modes to extract = 5
No. modes to expand = 5
Subspace Modal Analysis
Start Frequency = 0 HZ
End Frequency = 100 Hz
Apply Constraints
Solution > Define
Loads > Apply > Structural > Displacement > On Nodes Fix Node 1 (i.e. all DOFs constrained).
Solve
the System
Solution > Solve >

SOLVE
Post processing: Viewing the Results
1.
The Time
/ Frequency result summary will appear
2. View

This selects the results for
the first mode shape
3. Animate
